The International Monetary Fund (IMF) was set up by 182 nations in 1944. The United States was 1 of the 182 nations.
The IMF's main function is to monitor the world economy (by providing fiscal and monetary advise to all countries).

The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the World Bank) is a corporation owned by the IMF members. Again, the United States, a member of the IMF, is one of the owners of the World Bank.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC)
and
the International Develoment Association (IDA)
are affiliates of the World Bank.
